Amazon Elastic Beanstalk is more than just a new product from Amazon.com. It’s validation that raw IaaS is too complex for the average development shop and that PaaS is the inevitable web app model for the future.

Amazon announced plans to add Oracle Database 11g to its Relational Database Service (RDS) sometime in Q2 of 2011. Predictable. But why couldn’t Oracle Online get their act together and offer a cloud database service from their own data centers? Or has Amazon Web Services become so well-accepted that Oracle, the 2nd largest software company in the world, wants to ride the Amazon wave into the cloud? One wonders.
